Fun, Easy Piano Lessons That Kids Love

Our game-based program combines creativity and exploration with reading, creating happy students who can read, improvise, and play by ear. This approach supports students, who are likely to stick with piano for many years and become lifelong music makers.

“Reading notes used to be hard for me, but now it’s way easier.”
— Luke, current student

Confident Readers Make Confident Students

I had a student named William. He had been playing piano for two years when he transferred to me.

Despite playing for two years, William couldn’t read a note.

William’s mom said that he was frustrated and wanted to quit. His lack of reading was holding him back from progressing.

When I asked him a note, he turned to me and said, “I’m not sure. I don’t get how it works.”

Rather than telling him, we worked together together for the next 6 months on how reading worked. We drew notes, we wrote popular songs, and made up our own songs.

In 8 months, he was reading simple pieces and writing his own songs.

When reading is hard for students, they get frustrated and eventually quit.

When it’s easy for students, they feel motivated to continue!

We make it easy by turning it into a game…

How we make reading easy for children!

  • Reading is learned in 3 easy steps that is listening-based - it works for every student!

  • Our students are reading with confidence in 8 weeks with no help from me

  • We play songs that children know and love!

  • Game-based reading apps keep kids motivated to level up

  • We use technology and music apps to keep children hooked

  • Stickers and a points system for earning prizes that our students love

  • We teach kids to think for themselves musically, so they can become independent learners!

Did you know that learning to read music benefits children’s cognitive development, memory, and focus?

“Ms. Kat is super! She is kind, punctual, and empowers my daughter to progress at her own pace. She is a great teacher to introduce piano lessons to beginners as she also makes it fun!”
— Elaine C.

What Makes Our Studio Unique

Traditional music lessons focus only on reading and performance, leading to boredom and burnout. We delay reading for the first 10 weeks and focus on connecting sounds with symbols. When students begin reading, they complain that it’s too easy! Our students love doing these activities:

  • Improvising (or making up) songs

  • Composing and songwriting

  • Playing songs by ear

  • Harmonizing melodies with chords

  • Playing and singing

  • Music theory in a fun (not dry and dull!) way

  • Learning pop songs

  • Reading lead sheets

Our creative lessons help develop students who are well-rounded and have high retention rates, staying with piano for many years! We are proud to be the only piano studio in the Arcadia area crafting piano students who can read music, play expressively, and improvise!
